
Those who adopt through the COBYS Infant Adoption program are married or single persons, families with or without biological children, and families with or without a stay-at-home care-giver. They have in common a desire to share God's love with children in need. Adoptive families must meet these criteria to be eligible to serve:
- They must be at least 21 years of age.
- They must be able to meet the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of adopted children.
- They must pass an initial medical appraisal by a licensed physician.
- They must present positive Childline, State Police and FBI clearances.
- If two people are presenting as parent figures in a home, they must be married for at least two years and complete a marital inventory.
Adopting an infant through the COBYS Infant Adoption program includes these steps:
- Attend an orientation.
- Submit application with references.
- Attend additional training.
- Complete home study process including interviews and home visit.
- Begin matching process.
- Infant is placed in the adoptive home.
- Three home visits are made by caseworker.
- Adoption is finalized.
